Known for many
years as a photorealist painter, Ken Waterstreet
shows a survey of his paintings since 1980. Often
times you can see Ken as a sort of voyeur looking
into his paintings or being part of the painting in
some discreet way. He was Chair, Department of
Visual & Performing Art, Mira Loma High School but
retired a few years ago. He received his MA in Art
in 1969 from CSUS.
Ken is an avid
fisherman and loves to paint water scenes in a super
photorealist way. This show also gives the audience
a glimpse into a new series that is carefully being
developed for an exhibition that will be presented
in the future in our new gallery on water and rocks.
This survey demonstrates the fine ability of
painting the figure as well as intricate more
abstract paintings of his larger canvases. He is
very skilled at colored pencil drawings as well. Ken
is collected by a number of prestigious museums
including: Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA,
Museum Of South Texas, Corpus Christi, TX, Oakland
Museum, Oakland, CA, San Francisco Museum Of Modern
Art, San Francisco, CA, Smithsonian Institution,
Washington D.C. and Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale, IL.
