The catalog for “Sacramento
Interiors” offers everyone an inside look at familiar places
known to anyone who has ever paid a visit or lived in the
Capitol of California. In early April of this year our team of
five artists traveled together to paint their individual view
and interpretation of interior scenes of well-known Sacramento
landmarks including, The Crocker Art Museum, The State Capitol,
Vic’s Ice Cream, Jim Denny’s, The Delta King River Boat, The
Tower Theatre, and Evangeline’s Costume Mansion.
This amazing feat
intrigued our artists to such an extent that they have continued
to paint almost up to the beginning of the August Exhibition.
Since there was a deadline for printing, not all the works are
depicted in the catalog. The stories unfold even more by
long-time residents who participated in commentary about their
particular memories of these special places.
We are pleased to
publish this catalog as a fund-raiser for the Crocker Art Museum
building fund. Purchases ($18.00 plus tax) may be made through
either the gallery or the museum store beginning August 4, 2005.
Gallery reception is Saturday August 13 from 6-9 p.m.
Please note:
The catalog (11½”
x 8½”)
can be ordered by phone and shipped to anyone in the
United States. The cost is $22.50 plus $1.40 tax if sent to
anyone in California. We accept credit card or check. |

Originally from Guangzhou, China, he holds a degree in Graphic Design,
with an emphasis in illustration from San Jose State University. The
artist has been working as a visual designer and fine artist for the
last decade. His creative aesthetic rests in the use of simple, quiet
compositions that communicate emotion within the precepts of narrative
realism. Drawing from familiar scenes, his images serve to reflect on
stillness, solitude and mystery - yet with an element of comfort and
familiarity.

Paula Wenzl
Sacramento native, Paula Wenzl has created a remarkable portfolio of
pictures that impressionistically conveys the structures, signs, and
cultural artifacts of the Sacramento area. Ms. Wenzl’s images are rich
with color and full of enthusiasm. Her technique produces unique and
alluring images that blur the lines between photography and painting.
She begins with Polaroid photographs and physically manipulates the
emulsion; then she enlarges the photographs onto watercolor paper.
Each enlargement is embellished with dyes, pastels, pencils, paints,
or other handwork, creating a one-of-a-kind print. She has won several
awards and has been published in books and magazines. Her works are
part of numerous public and private collections and have been
exhibited internationally including in Chicago, Katmandu, San
Francisco, and Seattle.
All of
Wenzl’s Hand-Embellished Monoprints are available framed or unframed
in three different sizes: 11” x 11”, 16” x 16”, and 23” x 23”. Contact
Gallery for current availability.
